What is Raft Building?

Raft building with
is all about having fun and beating the competition. Using long wooden rafting spars / poles, large barrels for floatation and ropes, your team will build a raft capable of getting you around a set course on the lake.

To start your raft building session your team will first plan out you raft design on paper and then make a scale model of the raft before building your final design.

Once you have designed your raft you will then move on to building it using ropes to lash the spars and barrels together. If your lashings are loose and your raft isn't built correctly you're in for a wet session.

Don't worry if your raft comes apart on the lake as the
team will be on hand with safety cover to rescue you and your raft if needed!

Raft building is an excellent activity whether it's for a fun session on the water or for a team building exercise.

All specialist equipment is supplied for the session, a wet suit, waterproof trousers and a waterproof jacket and with a private changing room right on the waters edge, all you need to bring is spare boots or shoes and a swimming costume!

Reviews for raft building

Superb again!

Returned to Coniston after last year's visit and booked in with Adventure21 again. Paul was fantastic, everyone really enjoyed the morning canoeing testing our manoeuvring and paddling skills. Next up the gorge walk, everyone out of their confort zone...but was the favourite of the group and most talked about that evening.
The following day, no escape for Paul who took us raft building which was great fun, coming up with a design, building and then testing. We then modified and were joined by another family and then really tested it with 10 afloat. After dinner Kety took us to the range for archery and rifle shooting. Great to see how competitive everyone gets (with creative barracking).
Thanks again to Paul, Mark and Kety.
