What is Kayaking?
Kayaks are mainly single person craft with a closed cockpit. At Adventure 21 we use sit on top Kayaks both doubles and single for our kayak sessions as they are easier to handle and through experience, we feel they give individuals more confidence. The sport of kayaking is often referred to as canoeing.
As a group activity you can have great fun in a kayak, enjoying a number of wet games or learning the numerous paddle strokes involved in the sport.
As you will see from some of our images, kayaking is an activity that can be enjoyed by ages from seven to seventy and above.
Have a look at some of our videos to find out what it's all about!

Abseiling, kayaking and canoeing
We had the most amazing day with Adventure 21. We were visiting the Lake District on bankholiday weekend and were let down by another company late on Friday. We rang Kety who was brilliant and booked us in for abseiling on the Saturday afternoon and offered canoeing in the evening as well.
We arrived on Saturday to meet our instructor Dave (& Quackers!). Dave was really friendly, easy going and great fun, as well as really knowledgable on the area and great to chat to. He was really good fun through and really made the day. The abseiling was awesome, but the highlight was the quarry you abseiled down to which had a beautiful lagoon and incredible cliff faces. To add to the fun, the only ways back up we’re either climbing over slates or wading through a semi submerged cave tunnel!
After the activity we headed to Coniston Water. After a great fish and chips recommended by Dave, we arrived ready to paddle an hour early. Dave sent us out on the water in kayaks for free whilst we waited which was a great bonus! When the others arrived we then spent 3 hours on the water paddling around until the sunset. Dave was a really good teacher and took some amazing videos and pictures for free! Half way through we parked up across the lake and Kety arrived with sourdough pizzas which were delicious.
Overall we had an amazing time, and as fun as the activities were it was all the extra additions from
Kety and Dave which really made our time there. We will definitely be back and when we are we will be trying out some more adventures with the guys!
Thanks again from making the day the highlight of our trip.
Kayaking and Scrambling
Absolute quality day! Dave, our instructor was brilliant, great crack and really knew his stuff. Did a full day of kayaking and canoeing on the Lake and then gauge scrambling. Both were great fun and value and the latter had enough jumps to get your blood pumping for any adrenaline seekers! Would definitely recommend.
Absolutely brilliant
This is the third stag event I've been on with Dave and the team, and as always they didn't disappoint. Organising the event was made very simple by Kety, and our group leader Paul was first class.
Coniston is such a beautiful part of the world, and getting to experience it through the gorge walking, canyoning and kayaking was a real pleasure.
We were well looked after, the best thing about these trips is the great fun and laughter that the group leaders bring. It's always such a treat to come on these events, I can't wait to come back for more.
If you've got a group event (or even as a couple), I really can't recommend these guys highly enough.
