What do i need to know about sailing?
Whats the aim of the Activity?

To learn the basics of Sailing, how to helm (being in charge of steering the boat) and how to be a good crew member. Once mastered your instructor will set you a course around the lake. If its something more advanced your looking for we will provide a right instructor to suit your needs.

What does the activity include?

The activity includes all specialist equipment, instruction, and waterproof clothing and wetsuits where required.

Where does the experience take place?

We have venues in The Lake District, Cumbria

What should I wear?

We supply a waterproof jacket and trousers and a buoyancy aid. You should wear something warm like a fleece, preferably something old and loose fitting. Footwear should ideally be canoeing type shoes or boots but trainers with grip will do.

How long should I allow for this experience?

Our half day sessions last for 3 hours from start to finish including setting up and derigging time.

When does the activity take place?

We are available 7 days a week for sailing, all year round.

Are there any restrictions?

There are no real restrictions, for individuals with disabilities we will choose a venue and a boat to suit your needs and extra staffing can be made available on request.

What about the weather?

The weather would need to be really bad to stop our sessions; if it turns bad on the day we would try to have an alternative activity on hand.

Can I bring spectators?

You can bring spectators; we would give them a safety talk and advise them of a safe area to view the activity. Once the session is running it is sometimes difficult for spectators to follow the activity as you will be moving around the lake
