Risk involved – raft building using barrels, spars and lashings on open water.
Hazards arising from risk – submersion in cold deep water, collision with other water users, entrapment of limbs or whole body between barrels and spars.
Effects of hazard – cuts, bruises, sprains and in severe case broken bones. Hypothermia and in severe cases drowning.
Risk management – suitable clothing, safety equipment and footwear to be worn throughout the session. Experienced person to run the session. Adequate safety cover on the water.
