GUIDELINES FOR GOOD WORKING PRACTICE
FREELANCE/CASUAL/VOLUNTARY STAFF

strives to deliver educational and leisure activities defining clear aims, objectives and individual goals. To strengthen and back up this delivery to our clients, the following guidelines outline the roles and responsibilities of freelance/casual/voluntary staff whilst engaged in
Adventure
21
work as either a leader or assistant.

Session/activity preparation

            Staff booked to lead/assist sessions for
Adventure
21
will contact the office prior to the activity date to ensure the following paperwork is complete and copies are retained in both the
Adventure
21
office and in the mobile unit.

1.1 staff profile
1.2 original up to date N.G.B qualifications inspected and copies taken
1.3 inspection of individuals third party liability cover and copies taken
1.4 booking/activity/medical forms are complete for group background info
1.5 activity log including risk assessment/accident/near miss and evaluation forms

2. It is important that freelance and volunteer staff are honest about their ability to deliver activities, any concerns regarding session work must be aired before the activity date. Safety is of paramount importance and were appropriate, any alterations to the program due to changes in circumstances for example weather conditions, must be considered.

3. Freelance instructors/coaches/teachers/volunteers are offered work on the understanding that they are seen as an
Adventure
21
instructor working for the company and not just the group. Professional attitudes must prevail at all times. Hours of work may vary but in the event of late arrival of the group it will be expected that staff will use the time productively to help with the smooth running of the company with regard to maintenance, paperwork, etc.

4. Payment will be as follows:-

Instructor / assistant payments will be made on the submission of an invoice stating the dates and the work completed, this will usually be done after the client has completed payment in part or in full for the sessions undertaken. Where possible, payment will be made on the day.

Instructors/coaches             £90.00 per day
                                                 £45.00half day

Technicians/assistants      £50.00 per day
                                                 £25.00 half day

In the event of cancellation up to 10 days notice by the client, the agreed pay will be received and general maintenance / cleaning work will be carried out for the agreed hours to replace the instructional work.
  
Some sessions may incur extra time, for example expedition work. Were this happens payment will be negotiated between the staff member and
