A 15th century Inn, in the quiet village of Torver. We are in the shadow of Coniston Old Man, one of the Lakes' most iconic peaks.
We offer a truly rustic retreat away from the busy life of the city. The Inn boasts a wealth of charm and still maintains many of its original features.
Its character and age is shown throughout, with low ceilings, wooden panelling, beams, slate floors, log burning fires and, being the age that it is, possibly a ghost or two!!
Owner Michael Beaty arrived at The Church House in 2006 and has since brought a passion for excellent quality, good value cuisine and friendly atmosphere to this historic building. Michael is regarded as one of Cumbria’s most renowned chefs, having worked in some of the most prestigious restaurants both in the UK and in France. He naturally chooses to only cook from the freshest, top quality ingredients which are locally sourced to create his extensive menu for lovers of traditional, home made Cumbrian food.
The answer is ‘inn’ the name, we have five comfortable bedrooms, all en-suite with superb views over Torver Common.
A traditional, inexpensive bed and breakfast. Its charm, hospitality and especially its food make for a very special find.
At
we like to be able to advise our customers where to stay, where to eat and where to have the best laugh in the best company. The Church has a real relaxed Atmosphere, you can often see the
staff and the Coniston Boating centre staff having a drink at The Church House, its a great place to eat and have a beer.
